A Case of Gastric Glomus Tumor

Abstract

|
Glomus tumors are benign, maturely organized proliferations of glomus cells and vascular channels. This tumor is rare in stomach and only one case was reported in Korea. Because of no specific clinical or radiologic features associated with the
glomus
tumor, it can be recognized only by histologc characteristics. Although availabe data are inadequate for determining the histogenesis of this tumor, it may be a hamartoma rather than a neoplasma. The treatment of choice is local resection. In
fozen
section, they may be misinterpreted as carcinoid tumor, leading to more extensive surgery than required for cure. The purpose of this article is to report an additional case of glomus tumor of the stomach in Korea and review the literature.
